What Are GLP-1s?

GLP-1s are prescription medications that use hormones that mimic ones naturally found in your gut to stabilize your blood sugar, manage your appetite, and help you lose weight.

They’re best used in combination with healthy lifestyle changes, like a nutrient-rich diet and an enhanced exercise routine, as part of an overarching care plan. At BHCH, we incorporate GLP-1s into our wellness and longevity program to support and preserve your long-term health.

Your GLP-1 Treatment in Beverly Hills

Comprehensive Evaluations

Every patient’s journey with BHCH begins with a private consultation with our team of medical professionals. There, you’ll discuss your health goals and concerns, and our staff will review your medical history and perform a careful physical examination.

Personalized Treatment Planning

Following your consultation, you’ll complete testing at our COLA-accredited laboratory and our ACR-accredited imaging center. Our physicians will review your results to identify health risks and spot potential cotnraindications for GLP-1s, and will either approve you for GLP-1 treatments or recommend other therapies. Based on their decision, they’ll begin building a customized treatment plan catered to your body’s exact needs.

Physician Supervision Every Step of the Way

Your first GLP-1 dose will be administered at our Beverly Hills clinic by our trained medical staff. During your appointment, they’ll walk you through the dosing process and provide guidance on your treatment schedule, proper dosing, and injection site care and cleaning protocols. Our staff is always available to answer any additional questions you may have about your GLP-1s.

Treatments Tailored to You

Here, we recognize that health is dynamic, and require consistent follow-up testing for the duration of your GLP-1 treatment. You’ll return to our clinic regularly for additional diagnostics to get a concrete look at how your body is responding to medication and track your progress against your initial results. Based on our findings, we may adjust your dosage, change your injection schedule, or recommend a different GLP-1 medication.

Recovering From GLP-1 Treatments

After your first dose, you’ll leave our office with clear treatment instructions from our team, which should include the following items:

  • Dosing schedule
  • Side effects to monitor
  • Hydration recommendations
  • Diet and exercise guidelines
  • Follow-up appointment schedule
  • Injection site care and cleaning protocols

Because GLP-1 medications work gradually in the body, most patients do not experience any downtime after their injections. Following your first dose, you may rest at our clinic for a short period of time to monitor any initial side effects before heading home with no interruptions to your day. Some patients experience gastrointestinal upset as their first dose begins to take effect, but this should fade with additional injections. If you experience any unusual or intense side effects, contact our team immediately for a same-day check-in.
